Welcome to The Old Chapel Self Catering in Somerset
Welcome to The Old Chapel in Mark, situated in the heart of the village, on the beautiful Somerset Levels. Mark has the distinction of being included in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest village in England. The house was originally a Baptist Chapel dating from c.1866 but has now been converted into a spacious modern home
The character of the original building has been retained and now provides self catering accommodation for up to 8 people. There is one ensuite double bedroom (with a definite ‘wow’ factor) and one twin bedded room upstairs, two double bedrooms downstairs with a separate bathroom and extra loo. The large lounge has a vaulted ceiling, with a reading gallery above, a separate dining room, and a well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room. It has been refurbished with the environment in mind, including a heat pump to provide water and heating along with a wood burner. The furniture is a mixture of antiques, upcycled, recycled or bought from sustainable, ethical sources to provide a comfortable and cosy home.
As the sun changes direction during the day, the light from the stained glass windows gives warm reflections in the rooms, making it a peaceful and beautiful place to stay.
